A European launch for a forward-looking project
On July 8–9, 2025, in Rome, the kickoff meeting of the IKIGAI project marked the official launch of an initiative led by FIT Consulting srl and funded by the European Union.
The project’s goal is to revolutionize European logistics through two major transitions: the digitalization of flows and the decarbonization of supply chains.
Over the course of the two-day event, the strategic framework was presented by FIT Consulting and Inlecom, followed by contributions from the leaders of the “Learning Innovations.”
Among them, Learning Innovation No. 5, led by GS1 Belgium & Luxembourg, was highlighted by Kai Wing So — and it is within this initiative that Weenlo will take part in the coming months.
An active contribution to logistics innovation
Weenlo is honored to take part in Learning Innovation No. 5, focused on the GS1 SMART-Box: a standardized, modular, and reusable solution designed to make supply chains smarter.
In collaboration with its consortium partners, Weenlo will help address several key challenges:
minimizing CO₂ emissions, reducing waste, improving logistics efficiency, and strengthening process compliance.
These efforts are part of a broader ambition: to build a decarbonized European logistics ecosystem.
A responsibility in the face of the climate emergency
The second day of the meeting was highlighted by an inspiring talk from Professor Alan McKinnon, who emphasized the central role of logistics in addressing the climate crisis.
In this context, Weenlo is especially proud to contribute its technological expertise across all six Work Packages of the IKIGAI project, helping to drive a shared vision: a sustainable logistics model aligned with the climate challenges of the 21st century.
